About FocusTB

Focus TB is an initiative by Thyrocare, with a dedication of offering high-quality diagnosis for Tuberculosis (TB) at an affordable price. Although significant progress has been made in the last 25 years in reducing the worldwide burden of tuberculosis, it has been occurring at a frustratingly slow pace. Purging people from the burden of any disease is a worthy goal by itself; TB elimination is one of the most compelling economic justifications for public intervention. As a result, Focus TB has established itself as a top-notch TB diagnostic facility that provides high-quality diagnosis at reasonable cost, thereby limiting the economic burden of this disease. Focus TB is a pioneer in employing technologically-advanced machines and promoting early diagnosis, both of which contribute to the decline of tuberculosis.

Know About TB

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most deadly infectious diseases that mostly affect the lungs. It is caused by slow-growing bacteria, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which thrives in body parts with a high amount of blood flow and oxygen, therefore it usually attacks the lungs, and however, this microorganism can also move and infect other organs of the body. Although preventable and curable, tuberculosis is highly contagious and can be deadly.

Stages of TB

Latent TB: In this stage, the bacteria can remain in a dormant state in the body of the individual for years without causing any symptoms. An individual with latent TB infection would have a normal chest X-ray.

Active TB: When the immune system of the person is compromised, latent TB infection progresses to active disease. People at this stage can easily spread TB infection.

Symptoms: Chest Pain, Incessant Coughing (with or without blood or sputum)

Other Symptoms: Weight loss, Loss of appetite, Chills, Fever, Night Chills

TB in India

India bears an inordinate burden of global tuberculosis rates, around 220,000 deaths are recorded every year. According to WHO, it is one of the biggest health issues in India contributing to 2.2 million cases out of 9.6 million cases globally and these statistics keep growing each year. According to the recent studies in 2021, the drug resistance that began with Multi Drug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB), moving to Extensively Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (XDR-TB) has now embraced the most dangerous form, Totally Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (TDR-TB) posing a major risk to national health security.
