The Programmatic Management of Drug-Resistant TB (PMDT) has introduced several regimens
including newer drugs for DR-TB. However, for any regimen to be effective we need to know the
complete drug resistance profile. TB-whole genome sequencing (WGS) is comprehensive and scalable like the Swiss army knife. It gives the mutation profile of all the genes and can thus help identify the most suitable regimen. WGS can also determine lineage and mixed- infections and co-infections have implications in terms of transmission, pathogenicity, and treatment outcome. In this webinar, Dr. V Anil Kumar will be discussing his experience with TB WGS and how it could guide us in choosing appropriate treatment options.
